Farida Darwish is a contemporary Egyptian visual artist, art educator, and founder of El Marsam Art School, as well as a co-founder of CLEG Art Gallery.
Farida comes from a distinguished artistic family. She is the daughter of the Egyptian visual artist Dr. Abdel Aziz Darwish, one of the pioneers of the Realist Impressionist School in Egypt. She studied Architecture at Cairo University and worked for several years in engineering and interior design, experiences that have influenced her artistic vision and her sensitivity to composition, space, and color.
Farida’s work is characterized by rich, vibrant colors and expressive brushwork. Her inspiration comes from everyday life and the Egyptian environment, through which she reinterprets the details, memories, and identity of the Egyptian people and places from a contemporary and personal perspective.
Farida has participated in numerous exhibitions and art events in Egypt and internationally. She has also held solo exhibitions, including her “Farida’s Tales” series.
Alongside her artistic practice, Farida is passionate about art education and supporting artists. In 2011, she founded El Marsam Art School, where she developed her own curriculum to help art enthusiasts develop their skills and progress from the amateur stage toward a more professional level.
Through CLEG Art Gallery, Farida also contributes to supporting artists by providing a platform for exhibiting their work and connecting with art audiences, while contributing to the development of Egypt’s contemporary art scene.
Through her work as an artist, educator, and founder of artistic initiatives, Farida Darwish seeks to maintain a strong connection between art and Egyptian identity, while presenting it through a contemporary vision that embraces creativity, renewal, and personal expression.
